Old Absinthe Bar
NawlinsOld Absinthe House
A tavern on the corner of Bourbon and Bienville this iconic venue, with long copper-topped bar, has been in the Vieux Carre since 1807. It is known for serving signature drinks using absinthe (a bitter liquor with a licorice taste) a liquor quite popular back in the day. Absinthe is now illegal as it is a powerful narcotic, so the drinks are made with a safe substitute, usually Herbsaint.
