Pirate Den

As a young girl, I was enthralled by stories of the dashing buccaneer who lived by his own code of honor. The colorful pirate, Jean Lafitte, was a scoundrel, thief renegade, and a hero in our victory at the Battle of New Orleans in 1814. This structure built between 1722 and 1732 is reputed to be the pirate’s den from which Lafitte ran his business, selling smuggled and stolen goods.
