Saint Joseph Co Cathedral is a beautiful, historic church located prominently in the heart of my hometown of Thibodaux, Louisiana. Designed by Joseph A. Robichaux and built in 1923 in the Renaissance Romanesque style, twin towers flank a main façade featuring a rose shaped stained glass window. The exterior is constructed of brick with stone trimming and a terra cotta tile roof. The ornate interior is decorated in French and Italian marble, gold leaf finishes, stained glass windows and gold veined Egyptian marbles. My earliest memories are of coming to 11:30 Sunday morning mass here with my father and siblings. I gazed up at the beautifully painted ceiling and knelt in awe. It seemed to me that I was in a far off castle.
